After Operation

Proper aftercare is essential to ensure the long-term success of your hair transplant. At Adem Köse Clinic, our responsibility doesn’t end when the surgery is complete—it continues throughout your healing journey. This guide explains what to expect after your procedure, how to care for your scalp, and what to avoid in the weeks ahead.

🕐 1. The First 24 to 72 Hours

The initial healing period is the most delicate. During this time:

    • You may experience mild swelling, tightness, or redness in the donor and recipient areas.
    • Small scabs will begin to form around the transplanted grafts—this is completely normal.
    • Avoid touching, scratching, or rubbing the scalp under any circumstances.
    • Keep your head elevated, especially while sleeping, to reduce swelling (use 2 pillows or a travel neck pillow).
    • Do not wash your hair during the first 48–72 hours unless otherwise advised by the clinic.

💧 2. First Hair Wash and Scalp Cleaning

Your first wash is usually done at the clinic or instructed remotely if you’re traveling.

    • Use only the special shampoo and lotion provided in your aftercare kit.
    • Apply the lotion to soften the scabs and gently rinse with lukewarm water.
    • Pat dry gently—never rub or use a towel aggressively.
    • Wash your hair once daily for 7–10 days or as instructed.
    • Avoid hair dryers, direct sunlight, or high water pressure.

🚫 3. What to Avoid in the First 2 Weeks

To protect the grafts and promote healthy healing:

    • Do not wear hats, helmets, or tight headwear unless cleared by your doctor.
    • Avoid strenuous physical activities, gym workouts, and sweating.
    • No swimming (pool or sea) for at least 2 weeks.
    • Avoid alcohol, smoking, and caffeine for 7–10 days as they reduce blood flow and slow healing.
    • Do not apply any hair products, sprays, or oils without approval.

🌱 4. Shedding Phase & Hair Growth Timeline

    • Around 2–4 weeks after surgery, the implanted hairs may fall out—this is known as shock loss and is completely normal.
    • Hair starts to regrow gradually from month 3 onward.
    • Noticeable improvement usually occurs between months 4–6, with full results seen around month 9–12.

Patience is key—your hair follicles are going through a natural cycle of renewal.

🧴 5. Long-Term Care and Maintenance

To support the best outcome long-term:

    • Continue using gentle shampoos and avoid harsh chemicals.
    • Protect your scalp from direct sun exposure (wear a loose hat after day 10).
    • Stay hydrated, eat a balanced diet, and take any prescribed supplements or medications if recommended.
    • Regular follow-ups with the clinic are important to track your progress.

📷 6. Follow-Up Appointments & Progress Tracking

At Adem Köse Clinic, we schedule virtual or in-person follow-ups at key milestones:

    • Post-op day 3–7: First wash and healing review
    • Month 1: Initial recovery check
    • Month 3–6: Regrowth assessment
    • Month 9–12: Final results review

Send photos as instructed to help our team monitor your outcome and answer any questions along the way.

🧳 7. For International Patients

If you’re traveling from abroad:

    • Stay at least 1–2 days post-surgery before returning home.
    • We provide detailed written aftercare instructions and remote check-ins.
    • Our patient coordinators are available via WhatsApp, email, or phone for ongoing support.
