What to Consider Before Hair Transplant Operation

1. Medication Use:

  • Blood Thinners: You may need to stop taking blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin, at least 7-10 days before the procedure. These medications can increase the risk of bleeding during the procedure.
  • Vitamins and Supplements: You should also stop taking vitamins and herbal supplements that may have a blood-thinning effect, such as Vitamin E, green tea, and ginseng, within the same time frame.
  • Regular Medications: If you are taking any medications regularly, it’s important to inform your doctor. Your doctor will assess the potential impact of these medications on the hair transplant.

2. Alcohol and Smoking:

  • Alcohol: You should avoid consuming alcohol for at least 3 days before the hair transplant. Alcohol can thin the blood and increase the risk of bleeding during and after the procedure.
  • Smoking: Smokers are advised to quit smoking at least one week before the procedure. Smoking can negatively affect blood circulation and prolong the healing process.

3. Caffeine Consumption:

  • Avoid caffeinated beverages (coffee, tea, energy drinks) the day before and the day of the procedure. Caffeine can raise your blood pressure and increase the risk of bleeding during the procedure.

4. Hair Care:

  • Haircut: Follow your doctor’s advice regarding the length of your hair before the transplant. Usually, the haircut is done at the clinic on the day of the procedure, so you should come without cutting your hair.
  • Hair Washing: Wash your hair the day before the transplant without using any products (gel, spray, conditioner). A clean scalp helps the procedure to be more effective.

5. Eating and Drinking:

  • It’s recommended to have a light breakfast on the day of the procedure, but avoid heavy, greasy foods.
  • Drink plenty of water to help your body function better during and after the procedure.

6. Wear Comfortable Clothing:

  • Wear comfortable clothing on the day of the procedure. Especially after the transplant, it’s better to wear button-up or zip-up tops to avoid damaging the transplanted area when dressing or undressing.

7. Psychological Preparation:

  • The hair transplant procedure can be lengthy, so it’s important to be patient and relaxed. You may bring music, a book, or a tablet to keep yourself entertained and comfortable.

Paying attention to these recommendations will help ensure a smoother and more successful hair transplant procedure. Be sure to also follow any additional instructions provided by your doctor.
